The Grumpy Bear

Meet the crankiest bear in town in this beautifully illustrated graphic novel!

"Grumpy Bear"—that's what the new neighbor just scrawled on the mailbox of the old raccoon house. But so far, nobody in the village has actually seen him. Led by the sweet and cheerful Tingeli, the villagers decide to visit their new neighbor. After all, what could be better than making a new friend?  Well, the Grumpy Bear can think of a lot of things better than friends: "Muddy puddles! Damp fog! Stinky old fish!" And with that, he slams the door right in their faces. But Tingeli isn't giving up that easily. With good cheer and friendliness, surely even the bad-tempered Grumpy Bear can be won over...or not?

Based on the Baerbeiss stories by Annette Pehnt and Jutta Bauer, talented German artist Josephine Mark returns after the international success of My Trip with Drip. She delivers a delightful, humor-filled graphic novel that is as sharp as it is profound, showing great sympathy for quarrelsome outsiders or, really, anyone struggling to fit in a new group. Ideal for fans of Tove Jansson's 'Moomins'.
